Jeff Sharlet, Professor of English & Creative Writing at Dartmouth College

June 2021

Julia’s final long essay was a well-reported portrait of a custodian compelled by her job to be a kind of front-line worker. It’s a moving, sensitive portrayal that takes as the most important of subjects an "ordinary" life, all the more impressive for Julia’s ambitious multi-media approach using prose, video, and photography. Julia went well beyond the demands of the class, in pursuit not of a grade but a story to take her out of the Dartmouth "bubble." Impressive work."

I'm a writer, storyteller, poet, creative and recent graduate of Dartmouth College. They gave me a B.A. in Government & English with a focus in Creative Writing. My work centralizes around the genres of creative nonfiction and poetry, exploring themes of humanity and

extraordinary within the ordinary. I am driven to tell untold stories through the lives of strangers to unravel common threads of human experience. This has led me to my day job, where I specialize in creating striking, human-centered copy for advertising and  communications.
